Psychological Evaluations

Well-adjusted children is the ultimate goal! To this end, we provide comprehensive Evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disorder, Intellectual Developmental Disorder, & Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

autism spectrum disorder

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder have significant difficulty with social communication, social interactions and inflexibility of behavior. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a broad spectrum. Thus, the impact of the disorder on the child’s daily functioning varies. Some children are impacted by a lack of awareness of their surroundings. Whereas, some children are aware of their surroundings, but struggle to manage social situations. I focus on your child as an individual. You will learn how your child makes sense of his/her world, his/her strengths and weaknesses and what you can do to encourage his/her development.

Early detection and early intervention is critical for the developmental course of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Therefore, I provide evaluations for ASD from 3-years-old. However, Developmental Screenings are available at 2-years.

specific learning disorder

Specific Learning Disorder

Children with Specific Learning Disorder have difficulty learning and using academic skills. If your child is having persistent difficulty learning Reading, Writing, or Math; consider an evaluation for a Specific Learning Disorder. Children’s self-esteem are affected from continued difficulty in school. They begin to feel like a failure. Thus, identifying a Learning Disorder and providing the necessary supports is vital. I will help you understand the difficulty your child is experiencing and the supports/interventions needed to remediate the difficulty.

intellectual developmental disorder

Intellectual Developmental Disorder

Children with Intellectual Developmental Disorder are impacted by difficulties with daily living.

I understand the fear many parents feel that their child won’t have a fair shot in life. I focus on your child’s strengths as well as addressing the areas of needs. In addition to assessing intellectual ability; I include an assessment of adaptive functioning, functional social skills assessment, academic skills, and vocational assessments (for adolescents). The majority of children with Intellectual Developmental Disorder grow up to live productive lives and I want to help you get them there.

attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Attention Deficit /Hyperactivity Disorder

Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder struggle with self-control. Parents typically express concerns reported by the school including the difficulty the child has with focusing and/or behavior problems due to hyperactivity and impulsive behaviors. Unmanaged ADHD results in poor progress in school and problems when interacting with peers, caregivers and teachers. As children grow into adolescences; impulsive behaviors puts them in danger for risky behaviors.

My evaluation will assess inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive symptoms as well as the impact the problems have on your child’s daily functioning. More important; I develop a plan for improving self-control including: improving attention, managing emotions, improving social skills, and managing behavior.
